About Us
John A. Gehrisch
BBJM President
John
A. Gehrisch is an investor/partner in BBJM Golf Ventures and became
President in 2003.
John graduated from Owens State College in 1969 with an Electrical
Engineering Degree. In 1986 he received the prestigious
“Professional Alumnus of the Year” award from Owens.
After college, John worked in various sales and marketing related
positions for General Electric Corp. In 1972, he joined Thermo
Electric Corp. as a Sales Engineer and was promoted to Regional
Sales Manager in 1976. Eaton Corporation hired him in 1978 as a
Marketing Manager. When asked to move to the Corporate Headquarters
in Cleveland in 1979, John decided to start PMC Corporation, a
specialty wire and cable insulating company. By 1998, PMC had become
the largest in the U.S. for its product line, producing enough wire
to wrap the world 13 times. Prior to the sale of PMC in 1999, John
had orchestrated 4 acquisitions and the tax free trade of one its
divisions. In 1999, he became an investor/advisor in two related
financially struggling companies; Allied Creditor Co. and ORM Co.
John helped direct a major turn around and their eventual profitable
sale in 2002.
Enjoying golf since shortly after college, he realized his fathers
dream and become a professional in 2000. He began playing on the
mini tours, finishing second several times prior to winning his
first event on the Western States Tour in 2001. He has played in a
number of qualifiers for the Senior PGA Tour (now the Champions
Tour). He has been prepaid to compete in international professional
tournaments as far away as the Azores.
Butch Baird
BBJM Co-Founder & PGA Tour Star
Butch
Baird is a graduate of Lamar Tech where he starred on the college
golf team. Butch turned professional in 1959 and has played against
golf's greatest stars. He has won 14 tournaments worldwide,
including PGA TOUR victories at the 1961 Waco Turner Open, 1965
National Team Championship (with Gay Brewer) and the 1976 San
Antonio-Texas Open. He also won two times on the Champions Tour,
1986 Cuyahoga Seniors and 1989 Northville Long Island Classic. His
first professional victory was at the 1967 Bogotá (Columbia) Open
where he edged past world-class golfer Roberto de Vicenzo of
Argentina.
Butch is a close personal friend of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and
Gary Player. Throughout the years, he has built a reputation of
honesty and cordialness that reflects in his easy-going personality.
These qualities and relationships, along with the desire to capture
golf's great history, led him to co-found BBJM Golf.
Butch, an avid golf collector, now plays only a few events each year
on the Champions Tour, spending much of his free time as an artist.
